Obituary
Charm. Style. Grace.
It is with tremendous sadness and pain to announce the passing of Ramona Caporicci, gone way too soon. She is survived by her loving husband Dave and 2 adoring sons Leo and Gianluca. In typical Ramona character, she met her cancer diagnosis head on and battled to the end while passing away peacefully and comfortably with her 3 men by her side.
Ramona was raised in Coburg in her early years before settling in Welland with her parents Beverly and Robert Horvath and her beloved sister Tara Young (Greg). Family was of paramount importance to Ramona and she was lucky to have tons of brother/sister in-laws and blessed with amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and as only Ramona could, she impacted each of them in her own unique way.
Ramona’s city life was blessed and filled with great friends who’ve been part of her circle for decades and recent friends who she has formed intense bonds with. She knew how lucky she was and would always consider her posse as family. The hugs were real and were the quintessential depiction of her character.
Her Crystal Beach ‘family’ gave her great joy and was her special place with deep relationships formed so the loss for the CB community will be large. The beach will never be the same.
Ramona’s professional life revolved around her curiosity and passion for business strategy in the retail sector. She was a true ‘Shop Girl’ and retail warrior in various management positions at The Body Shop, Disney, Civello & Aveda, Indigo and most recently as a VP Wholesale & Retail for Canada Goose. She was a bright light mentoring hundreds of individuals and formed loyal relationships while being a truly dynamic and engaged leader. The comments are always the same, ‘She changed my life forever’, ‘She made my career’, ‘I’ll never forget her’ and ‘I’ve learned so much from her’.
Her life was dedicated to Leo and Gianluca and she was extremely proud of the men they’ve become. She loved them attending St. Michael’s College School and attributes much of their character and traits to their time there, specifically the role of basketball in their personal development. To that end she wanted to pay it forward, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memoriam of Ramona to the Downing Street Partnership Basketball Bursary dedicated to offset tuition costs for a student-athlete of financial need pursuing academics and basketball at St. Michael’s College School.
