Right Reverend Evstachiy Ostap Goshulak

Died peacefully on Tuesday August 3, 2004, in his 85th year.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and spiritual guide to

Parishioners at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral

in Toronto. Devoted husband of Daria (nee Ficalowycz) for

62 years. Loving father of Adrienne (Vincent), Katharyne,

Mary (Nykola), Motria (Alvin), John (Debra).Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Matthew, Adrianna, Stephanie, Katheryne, Maxym, Julian, Peter, Emily & Larissa.

Born March 5, 1920 in Chortkiw, Ukraine, he studied theology

in Lviv. W.W. II forced him to emigrate with his wife and infant. From the "displaced persons" camp in West Germany through Tunisia he found his way to Canada in 1952. Responding to a lifelong ambition, he returned to theological studies in 1968, earning a Master of Divinity degree at St. Michael's College. Ordained a priest in 1969 he served at St. Nicholas parish and then at St. Josaphat's Cathedral in the Toronto Eparchy. He also edited the Ukrainian newspaper

"Nasha Meta" (Our Aim). In 1993, he returned to his old theology school in Lviv, this time as a summer lecturer. Paramount for him through all the trials of his life were his love of family, country, both Ukraine and Canada, and God.

Visitation on Saturday, August 7 at Cardinal Funeral Homes,

92 Annette Street from 2:00 & 4:00 PM and 7:00 & 9:00 PM

with a Panachyda at 7:30 PM. Also a Parastas will be held at St. Josaphat's Cathedral on Sunday at 7:00 PM

Divine Liturgy on Monday August 9 at 9:30 AM

Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, funeral masses or donations to the Holy Spirit Seminary in Lviv would be appreciated by the family.
