Apologies for being so late in sending our condolences. We have been away. Like many other messages, mine will begin by saying that I worked with Walter for 25 years. And like others, the trip with Walter wasn't always smooth, but he always made the scenery interesting. I will forever admire the man. I learned from him in so many ways. My heart goes out to the family. We'll miss a man who was more than special.

Dear Jennifer: Walter was my first boss. He replaced Louis Renzoni, who hired me at the U of T to work at Copper Cliff, just about when Walter and you returned from Port Colbourne. I learned a lot from him. He inspired especially those who worked for him, in my case through high energy discussions.. My wife still remembers the party he (you?) put on for his co-workers at your house, him playing the violin, etc. Later in life I had the privilege to speak with him several times at the U of T and elsewhere at CIM meetings. I even made a contribution to Goro via the pyrohydrolysis technology which I developed at Falconbridge's refinery in Norway. Our lives have touched several times over the last fifty years; I will miss him.
